WHY HAMBURG?

After the EUBC&E success in 2009, the upcoming EU BC&E is returning to Hamburg, Germany.

A city like Hamburg offers endless possibilities for visitors, no matter what their interest, with a veritable kaleidoscope of attractions ranging from more than 50 museums and a host of venues for drama, concerts and musicals to
the second largest European harbour, a walk along the Elbchaussee, the historic Speicherstadt or the picturesque Alster.

Besides its long and well-known Hanseatic trading tradition, Hamburg is home to Europe's most innovative and future oriented districts such as Wilhelmsburg. Here, you can discover new sustainable buildings in the works or already completed such as the Algae-House and the Woodcube, probably the most prominent examples of housing concepts with integrated biomass use.

The German government has made a clear commitment to promoting renewable energy sources and renewable raw materials. Its goals are largely a result of the EU Climate and Energy Package and also of the outcome of a special cabinet meeting held in Meseberg. The aim of the National Biomass Action Plan is to provide a holistic concept to significantly increase the bioenergy share in Germany's energy supply while adhering to sustainability criteria. Bioenergy is an ideal choice in efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change, secure supply and promote economic development. It also serves in boosting domestic value creation - especially in rural areas.

The 22nd European Biomass Conference and Exhibition will take place at CCH - Congress Center Hamburg, one of the biggest and most contemporary centres of its kind in Europe with a complete range of services, a large capacity and its compact architecture in a large space. The CCH - Congress Center Hamburg is centrally located in downtown Hamburg near the "Dammtor" InterCity train station. You can reach it quickly and reliably using any means of transportation.

We are preparing the biggest biomass event in 2014 for you and we look forward to welcoming you to the 22nd EU BC&E and to the wonderful city of Hamburg!
